Taking time to unplug and fully experience our emotions
How often do you take the time to relax and feel out your feelings in the busy-ness of life?
Our minds can get trapped in certain patterns of thinking, checking our phones at the sweet sound of a notification chime, unconsciously getting lost in thoughts, or doing something to distract ourselves from the now. Mindfulness is simply the act of not giving in to those impulses, instead observing the feelings and thoughts arising, with compassion, or void of any form of judgement towards them. Surely, after a while the compulsive behavior or thought dissolves as if it was never there... It takes practice to be able to do that, but it becomes easier and easier with time. In doing so, we can also notice certain patterns in terms of how we think, feel and behave within the world, granting us wisdom into how we operate in our lives.
Contrary to popular belief, mindfulness does not have to be performed sitting upright or in a certain position. It can be performed anywhere... laying down, sitting, walking, open eyes, closed eyes, whatever situation you are in and even wherever you are...
